Clearly this program taps a need in the marketplace. We found the groups to include people from business, health and human services, education, counseling, and others. The skills are applicable to many settings. The evaluations are consistently in the excellent range and include many unsolicited kudos.

Comments from graduates of the Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate program:

The Fundamentals of Coaching program was informative, and as I realize with my new coaching practice, invaluable. Barbara uses literature, leadership, role-playing, and hands-on techniques in her classes. She backs each class with a solid foundation based on her many years of experience working with both groups and individuals.

With an innovative approach, Barbara provided the tools from which to build a solid foundation, all of which I have been able to implement with confidence. Barbara has many gifts that she is willing to generously share. She inspires individual growth with her leadership. She has a commitment to bringing out the best in each individual she works with and provides the encouragement, empathy and insight that is a rarity in this day and age.

Barbara is without a doubt, an invaluable asset to any individual or setting that partners with her.

I took Barbara's certificate program in Professional Coaching at the University of Southern Maine and it was incredibly pivotal in my life. I thought that I wanted to be a coach, but what I learned through the process is that I wanted to BE coached. So after completing the certificate, I hired Barbara to help me really take a hard look at what I want my future to look like. In a very short period of time, I am on a completely different course that I am confident will better fit my personality, my needs, and my vision.

Barbara Wilson is a dynamic, enthusiastic, intuitive, positive instructor. She has a unique style of bringing people and issues into focus, all the while challenging you to find your own answers.

She is very invested in each participant and gives you the confidence to engage in listening and planning for yourself, be it personal or career centered.

She is a special person with a gift, and she chooses to use that gift in helping others. And it works.

I found that the course provided me with an entire "toolbox" of practical skills that I've been able to use in both my personal and work life. As a mental health professional, I found the coaching skills to be a perfect complement to my social work skills. And I found Barbara to be an engaging, creative, intuitive instructor, and very generous with sharing her knowledge and resources.

As an experienced psychotherapist and clinical specialist in nursing, needing CEU"s, I was intrigued by the series of Coaching classes offered at a local university. However, I also am particular about the quality of my instructors and the learning environment created, so I signed up for one class as a trial. I was so immediately impressed with the quality of Barbara's instruction, her excellent use of experiential learning techniques and structured class materials that I registered for the full series of classes and practicum.

A dominant theme that I came away from each class with was the superior way in which Barbara utilizes herself as a role model of the material she is teaching. She does this in a subtle, artful way, so there is a sense of humility, not pretension; a facilitation of a wide variety of learning styles; and a measure of meeting each person in attendance at their optimum level of learning. A bonus tossed in that she also fosters a learning environment that is not only positive but creative and fun!

I will definitely incorporate a number of coaching approaches and techniques into my own group facilitation and therapy practice. I believe that integration of theory and practice evolve in an atmosphere of life long learning. I feel that in Barbara Wilson's coaching classes and consultations she promotes challenges for creative growth and self-awareness by setting a positive environment for receptivity for change.
